Dr Tshepo P. Maaka is a qualified clinician with over 29years experience. She is a Wits alumni with post-graduate training in both anaesthesiology and public health management. Dr T was the top Matric student in Limpopo (previously Lebowa) in 1988! She partnered with her daughter in forming Cabblow Studios 5 years ago. She has produced, to date, 9 short films with 2 more shorts in production with expected completion dates in November and end of 2023 respectively. Together with her daughter, Kabelo, they are combining their skills in medicine /business and animation to carve out a unique niche in the South African animation market.

Kabelo !Cabblow” Maaka is an Animation Director, 2D Animator, Illustrator, Podcaster & Animation lecturer with 7years experience in various aspects of the animation pipeline. She is a visionary with a warm and infectious personality. She made her debut as a director with her short film ! 3 Teaspoons of Sugar” in November 2019 and has since directed 2 more original short films and various client projects. Kabelo is a winner of the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South African Awards 2021 under the Film & Media category. She leads the team of nimators currently working at Cabblow Studios.

In 2023 she was chosen as one of the 10 winners of The Future is Female hosted by Advertising Week Africa.
